Day Four
Early in the morning, the people in tent two will wake up when their tent begins to shake violently. It will ultimately collapse on them. When they wake up, they will find no one outside. Instead, they will see heavy clouds on the horizon. Also, it looks like someone has gone through the Nations' things. Various belongings have been thrown around camp-- clothes, towels, batteries, toilet paper, food, etc. More food items have been eaten.

It is much cooler than it was yesterday and a strong, cool breeze blows. The waves are bigger and it would be dangerous to go out too far. Most nations should be able to tell a storm is coming.

Electronic devices do not work. The only way to find out what the weather forecast will be is to use the emergency radio or your own instincts. As the day goes on, the wind will become stronger. Tents might start to come undone and blow in the wind.

The weather is getting increasingly worse and they will have to find better shelter.

The forest and spring appear normal.

Status
Weather: Cool, windy, very cloudy. It will rain on and off all day. A storm is coming.

Electronics: Music players will play static. The emergency radio is able to pick up weather reports.

Cameras: The lighting effects from the previous day are much more visible. Now, you will be able to make out shapes in the photos. They will be able to see different types of faces, hands, and the lower part of a body, etc. In the photos, you will also notice that the figures are getting closer to the people in them. The figures come closer with every photo you take. Be careful of who you take pictures of.

Cell phones: Everyone will be able to get a signal at some point during the day for a brief amount of time! However, calls don't seem to go through for some reason.

Animals: All pets will disappear.

Magic: Ineffective. Nothing will work.

???: Various belongings find themselves randomly thrown around outside.

Romania's books are missing. He will find black feathers where his books used to be.

Probably. Stupid of them, though.

People aren't really known for being smart. Like, not the majority of them, anyway.

[ How true. ]

Maybe if this place got swarmed with scientists and tourists or whatever, the ghosts would get sick of it.

[Iceland flips through a few photos, then pauses and flips back through them again--this time he's focusing on the ones with people in them. Namely, how the things around everyone seem to get closer the later the photo is.]

You think they'd just float across the ocean 'til they found another island to haunt? [ He doesn't know how that works. ]

[ And yet again he's kind of leaning over to see what Iceland's seeing. ]

Or a boat. [Maybe a cruise in international waters isn't the best option for another outing.]

Look at this. [Iceland shifts quickly between two photos of the same person.] It's getting closer.

I guess they could always hitch a ride with us. [ ............... ]

Yeah, I noticed that in some of the others too. Wonder why that is.

[No, don't say that. Being trapped on a boat with them might be worse than being trapped on an island.

Iceland doesn't say anything, though, and instead turns the camera on himself--he's been in almost no photos simply because he dislikes being photographed. He snaps two in quick succession, pauses as if he expects something to literally jump out at him, and then compares the two photos. The thing is closer in the second one, of course.]

I don't think we should take any more pictures of anyone.

[ See, Hong Kong completely agrees about that. Which is why he's kind of disturbed he said it....

Hong Kong almost tries to stop him, because he gets where this is going and there's no reason for Iceland to endanger himself. But he holds back, perhaps just out of a need to know for sure. ]

Yeah, no more pictures of people. Seems like a good idea.

Do you think those hands would get closer if we took a picture of the forest again? [Iceland looks over at the forest. He's not sure if he was joking or not--either way he isn't really keen on trying it.]

I dunno. Why, d'you wanna try? [ He's just wondering, of course. ]

Not really. [Iceland pulls a face at the forest.] Shouldn't tempt them.

[Can you tempt hands that only show up in photographs? Iceland doesn't want to find out.]

We might have to when we get in there, if that thing with the path happens again.

[ Frankly, Hong Kong doesn't want to either. He's fine with taking minimal risk, for once. ]

Yeah, we don't want to waste time going in circles or anything. But we should probably only take photos when we have to.

[Iceland understands this will be difficult for you, Hong Kong.]

[ He's catching a hint there. ]

Okay, okay. I'll be careful.

[Iceland nods, and then sighs at the entire situation.]

This is all so stupid. I hate hiking. Why'd they send us to some haunted island anyway?

You hate hiking? [ That seems like a somewhat specific thing to pick out. ]

I'm gonna guess this was someone's idea of a joke. Because like, none of them have a sense of humor to speak of.

[ "Them" presumably being... the UN? Other nations? Who knows. He might just mean adults in general. ]

Yeah. It's too much work. [Iceland is just picking out something normal to complain about, really.]

Maybe they really wanted all of us to work together. [Frowning.] Do you think we can fire people in the UN?

[Iceland they don't give you that ability for this exact reason.]

I never thought of you as lazy. [ Something about the way he says it hints that he still doesn't. ]

There's gotta be better ways. And you tell me, because if there is, I wanna know.

[ He doesn't want to get stuck doing this again. ]

You don't have to be lazy to not want to go hiking. [But he will still go with Hong Kong to the mansion because otherwise Hong Kong would go alone or something.]

Maybe if we complain enough we can at least get rid of the guys who picked this place.

I don't think you're lazy. [ He says this in a kind of pseudo-enigmatic sort of way. And that's quite true, he would go alone. ]

And make sure it's totally like, taken off the list of places to go after this.

If they have a list with this place on it, we should probably check to make sure none of the other places are like this. [Maybe there's some sort of Haunted Locations Vacation List in the UN.]

It's only a little freaky, imagining them having a list like that.

[ Let's test their endurance! Let's have a little fun! They're hardy, so they usually survive this kind of thing. ]

I bet they have one. When we get back we need to destroy it. [It is impossible to tell the level of seriousness in this conversation.]

If we go all Mission Impossible on them, I totally approve. [ It is getting kind of difficult. Nonetheless, Hong Kong feels more relaxed like this. It's not so bad. ]

Do you think they have the list somewhere where we can come down from the ceiling to get it? [This is definitely a lot easier to focus on than whatever's happening all around them here.]
