Day Two

Day Two The sun begins to rise and cool morning comes. Early in the morning, there is a low mist coming from the forest but it isn't anything strange considering the environment. However, combined with how quiet it is. . . it does look kind of creepy. Fortunately, as the day goes on, it gets warmer and brighter. The mist dissipates and the birds begin to call out. The first few people to wake up might notice some things have moved around while they were asleep. The pots and pans that were left outside have been moved several feet away. Several bottles of water are missing from the cases and can be found scattered around the sand. The spring is calm and peaceful. It is quiet but not too quiet like it was last night. Status Weather: Sunny, clear, and very warm with a light breeze. Electronics: It is impossible to get any sort of reception on the beach. Any nation will a cell phone will wake up to find a message from the United Nations. Some nations might receive the same message more than once. It looks like someone tried to send the message multiple times to make sure it went through. Message: "do not make him angry again" Magic: Magic is not always effective today. For every five times you cast a spell, it might not work once. Otherwise, everything is normal. Animals: Normal on the beach. Any pets that go into the woods will stay close to their owners. Pets will become upset around the spring and staying around too long will result in the pets leaving for the beach. ???: Several bottles of water are missing from camp. They can be found scattered in the sand. The entrance to Tent Four was left open over night. The pans and pots have been moved. Day Two | Night Two Day 3 will go up 6 June

We definitely did... [He looks back at the forest, suddenly uncertain.] We did, right?

[bauhinia]

Yeah. We definitely did. [ He pulls out his camera again. ] Hang on, I'll check the timestamps on my pictures. ]

[volcanoes]

[Iceland leans in a bit to get a look at the photos.] What should we do?

[bauhinia]

You want my honest opinion? [ He scrolls past the ones from last night, which show the dark shadow in the last few. ]

[volcanoes]

[That shadow seems more ominous now.] That's why I asked.

[bauhinia]

We have to get to the bottom of this. [ He's made it to today's pictures. Everything seems normal at first, until... some of them have the same weird distortions as before. ] Look at that.

[volcanoes]

Whoa. [He examines the picture and then notices the timestamp.] ...1565. [Iceland is pretty sure the photo wasn't taken in that year?]

[bauhinia]

Right, so either we traveled back in time or something's seriously wrong here.

And it's not my camera, this thing worked fine before I got here. [ He keeps scrolling. More of the same. ] Look, 1786. And this one's just a buncha zeroes.

[volcanoes]

Something must have been messing with it. [He looks back at the forest again.] I don't know if we should go right back through...

[bauhinia]

How're we gonna figure it out if we don't? If we tell anyone, you know they're just gonna blow us off. [ Except maybe like. All the people they wouldn't want to tell. Magically inclined people who happen to be related to them, directly or indirectly. ]

[volcanoes]

[He frowns, but Hong Kong has a point, and Iceland doesn't really want Norway swooping in and telling him to stand back like he's a hundred years old again.]

Maybe there's a way around the forest.

[bauhinia]

[ Feeling much the same, Hong Kong seems intrigued by that suggestion. ] You think if we followed the beach for awhile, we might find a way in?

[volcanoes]

Yeah. We could check up on the cliffs, I bet we could see most of the island from there. [He gestures off to one of the cliffs on either end of the beach.]

[bauhinia]

Well, since we didn't lose any time with that little adventure- [ he waves his hand in the direction of the forest ] wanna go?

[volcanoes]

[He probably shouldn't. Iceland knows he probably shouldn't. He folds the map he crumpled up more properly.]

Let's go.

[bauhinia]

[ Good man. ]

If we don't find anything by nightfall, what should we do? Might be good to have a plan. [ And/or more supplies? ]

[volcanoes]

[Iceland frowns, looking over the supplies.]

We should take some more stuff with us. If I have to I could send Puffin back here, too.

[To alert someone if--

The stories Norway told him are sliding through his mind again. He convinces himself, mostly, that nothing weird is going to happen.]

[bauhinia]

[ Hong Kong simply nods along. ] Sounds good.

[ He stands up, dusting himself off and offering Iceland his hand. ] Wanna grab some stuff and meet back here? [ He's trying not to think about stories he's heard. Because they're just stories. This is totally different. There's some kind of logical explanation, they just have to find it. ]

[volcanoes]

[Iceland takes it, lifting himself up.] Yeah. Should we bring our sleeping bags just in case?

[bauhinia]

Might not be a bad idea. It was dark by the time we got there last night, so you never know, right?

[ He's ready to see this through. ]

[volcanoes]

[Hong Kong's dedication makes Iceland feel like there's no way he can back out at this point.]

Okay, we'll meet back here in fifteen minutes?

[bauhinia]

[ It's do or die now, Iceland. Hopefully not die.... ]

Gotcha. [ He gestures to show he understood, then meanders off to get his things. And avoid anyone who might question him about why he's doing so.

It's a very delicate dance; one can only assume Iceland is familiar with it. ]

[volcanoes]

[There is a fine line to walk between avoiding one's brothers and pretending you are not trying to avoid them and in fact have nothing at all interesting to tell them. He'll be back when promised, though, with his sleeping bag, food, water, and one of the fishing poles, not to mention the stuff he already had in his pack.]

[bauhinia]

[ Hong Kong is pretty much as well prepared as Iceland, minus the fishing pole. He manages to get away without having to talk to anyone once, practically a miracle, honestly. ]

Okay, I'm totally ready.

[volcanoes]

[Iceland can't tell if it's good or bad fortune no one's questioned them. But he has to go for it now, he's spent the time getting ready. And Hong Kong would just go alone anyway if Iceland didn't go with him, he's pretty sure.]

It'll probably take longer to go around. Let's get going.
